VISIT TO CAFE PONT
A very interesting visit to Cafe Pont was made by years 7, 9, and 10. The visit gave focus to two main subject areas, that is, Business Studies and Geography.
For the Business Studies students, it allowed them to see firsthand the production process of coffee being roasted, ground, packaged, and dispatched.
They saw people at work, and could link with some thought, the knowledge from the classroom to this working environment.
For Geography students there was a great mix of both Physical and Human Geography to connect with.
The staff of Cafe Pont took the trouble to explain the global distribution and supply of coffee beans.
They were careful to indicate to the students the different types of coffee beans and their varying quality.
For years 9 and 10, they could ask questions about ‘Fair Trade‘, climates suitable for growing the valuable crop, and how that affects market prices.
Finally, lunch was taken on the park.

A good day for learning.
