Year 4 Week 5 & 6
Previously in Year 4… Children have typed and edited with a computer their articles by changing the font, including pictures and word art and using paragraphs. Below you can see some year 4 ICT work.
This week children have been having fun preparing for carnival. Making basketball shakers, and lovely pink tutus (even the boys enjoyed elegant creatures)!
Julie Sheehy (Music teacher) has helped year 4 write a song! I have to say I was very impressed and encourage everyone to watch the video for it. Well done year 4! Thank you Julie!!
The Bloody Battle of Bosworth
The war of the roses
Henry Tudor fought in the war of the roses as the red rose against Richard III, the white rose. The battle of Bosworth was the final battle.
The whole war lasted 32 years. In the battle of Bosworth people could hear cries of pain and clanging of swords. It was a terrifying sight!
Soldiers could see their friends dying. Richard III shouted
his last words which were “Treason! Treason!”. Nobody knows how he died only that it happened during the final battle .
Richard III was dead so Henry Tudor took the throne
as the first Tudor King. King Henry VII married Elizabeth of York. Together they formed the Tudor Rose. Few years later Henry VIII was born. He was named after his father.
This was the beginning of the Tudor times.
The Bloody Batle of Bosworth
The war of the roses was between Richard III and Henry Tudor. Richard’s house was house of York, and Henry was the house of Lancaster.
The war of the roses finished at 1489 with final battle of Bosworth.
Edward the III died and his son, Richard became king. Henry thought that Richard wasn’t a good king so he went to fight Richard.
Henry the VII won at the battle of Bosworth. Richard´s last words were “TREASON,TREASON,TRASON!!!!!!”

The children have been learning about stories from other cultures. We read Handa’s Surprise and enjoyed trying to carry things on our head like Handa does!

Year 12 Quadratic Modelling and Optimisation
Year 12 have been using their graphical calculators to model the path a basketball takes as it is thrown into the hoop. They predicted the quadratic equation and then using their knowledge from the chapter they amended the equation to model the path. They could then find the height it reached from the ground and the distance from the person when it hit the ground, amongst other things. Following this they looked at optimising the area of a garden by consider what the width and the length of the fence should be and developing a quadratic equation to solve in order to maximise the area.
Year 7 Geometry
Year 7 have just finished their first module of geometry this year. They have studied properties of shapes and angles in triangles, quadrilaterals and on straight lines. They have enjoyed solving problems related to geometry as well as problems about measures. Most recently the class looked at the cost of supplying milk from a farm and the profit the farmer makes. Similarly investigating the area a farm needs to call its chickens “Free Range”. The students have bisected angles using pairs of compasses and constructed perpendicular bisectors of lines. In conclusion to the topic they produced posters of what they know about shapes and angles for their class display.
ECU2 activities this week.
The children have been very involved in all the activities this week. The children really like the train and the computer.

Year 2 get symmetrical / Year 2 get creative in ICT
This week Year 2 have been very busy already! They have been typing their weekend news on the computers and drawing wonderful pictures too! They have been exploring the tools on the computer to make very interesting and eye catching pictures.
Year 2 have also been working on symmetry. They created these beautiful symmetrical pictures in their maths lesson this afternoon. What a clever bunch!
