Book Fair Winners

Autor Everyone put a lot of effort into the book fair competition. It was very hard to choose the winners as all the entries were so good! Congratulations to the Primary Winners! Miss Trillo.
Following instructions
This week in year 5 we tried our best to follow and then evaluate instructions by making salt dough. We read, measured amounts and followed each step. We put our maths skills to use by carefully measuring amounts to create dough with a good consistency. Some of us even made figurines when they dried!

Primary Assembly Certificate
This week Primary students have enjoyed singing together with ECU 2 in their Assembly. This time we celebrated the achievements of some of our Primary students. Well done everyone!
Year 1
Jan – For an absolute outstanding improvement in English!!!
Jordi – For being a super star in Maths by learning his doubles to 20 and understanding the value of 2 digit numbers
Year 2
Noor – For super effort and presentation in her work

Year 5
Sam – Sam has made some exciting progress since the start of this term!
Sam has remembered his prime numbers and times tables so that he can factor numbers. Sam has been giving his undivided attention during the lessons, impressing all of his teachers, is a great help when working in groups.
Ginnie – Ginnie has been working on her targets and what an improvement in her quality of work. She shows great focus and the skills of an effective learner! Well done on working towards your goals!
Virginia – Virginia has shown great perseverence in her Maths and shows in her work. She has been trying really hard in all subjects and does not give up but tries again and again. What a good example you have set for others!
Year 6

Fun with Laterality in PE Year 5
This week as part of our unit on The Body: Image and Perception, Year 5 have
been working on their lefts and rights. After several “other lefts”
and “other rights” it seems that we were all able to distinguish correctly.
We used tennis balls (can you tell who the teacher is?) to do various
different activities with both our hands and feet. Well done (as
always) Year 5!!

This week in Year 1 we started a new Science topic ‘Materials’.
We talked about different types of materials we could find in our class room
and described the properties of them… e.g hard, soft, smooth, ruff,
shiney, bendy, see-through etc. We also talked about what they can be used
for in our environment.
The children went on a materials hunt and found a variety of things made out
of different wood, plastic, fabric, glass, paper and metal.

Christmas at PortAventura
In one month we will set off for our Christmas adventure and fun at PortAventura. Three days in the park enjoying the rides and entertainment in the park. Then in the evening we will have fun with the PortAventura Christmas shows and our own games. A magical Christmas experience. Deposits are required by Friday 9th November – don’t miss out. Consell d’infants
El dia 16 d´octubre a les 10h del matí es va celebrar, a totes les escoles de Sitges, les votacions dels candidats/es per al 10è Consell d´Infants a les classes de cinquè de primària (en el nostre cas: Y-6).
Aquí veiem els vocals o secretaris que van controlar les esmenades votacions: en LLuís i la Laura. Podem observar l´urna i la manera com tot va transcórrer. Va ser molt emocionant!!!!
Les dues candidates han estat: la Melina i la Gabriela. A les dues els dono les gràcies per haver-se presentat voluntàries per aquesta tasca.
Després del vot secret i del recompte corresponent , va sortir guanyadora la Melina.
Per tant, des d´aquí , li desitgem molta sort per aquest curs 2012-2013 en representació de l´escola Escaan a l ´Ajuntament de Sitges amb l´objectiu de transmetre idees per tal de millorar el nostre poble.

Se inaugura en Escaan una nueva escuela de música
El próximo miércoles 10 de octubre a las 17:00 en la Sala de Actos del ESCAAN School se presentará la nueva Escuela de Música “Jaques-Dalcroze” de Sitges, dirigida por Pablo Cernik, pianista y acreditado profesor del método “Rítmica -Dalcroze”.
La “Rítmica Dalcroze” es una metodología que nació hace más de un siglo y aún sigue siendo innovadora en el campo de la educación musical. Su creador, el compositor suizo Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, propuso un aprendizaje de la música
El director de la nueva escuela, Pablo Cernik, lleva más de ocho años dedicado a la enseñanza de la música, estudió piano y “Rítmica Dalcroze” en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Buenos Aires y posteriormente se perfeccionó en el Instituto Dalcroze de Ginebra. El profesor Cernik reside en Sitges desde hace tres años y colabora de forma habitual con diferentes escuelas de Barcelona además de formar a profesores en su carrera de educadores musicales en el Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco “Musikene” en San Sebastián.
La nueva escuela estará ubicada en las instalaciones del ESCAAN en Vallpineda. La práctica y el estudio del lenguaje musical, necesarios para poder tocar un instrumento, se realizan en las clases grupales de rítmica y de coro. En cambio las clases de instrumento son individualizadas o en parejas.
Una de las ventajas del método “Dalcroze” es que se observa una rápida evolución de los niños, aprenden música de forma más profunda, porque la han experimentado y vivido con su propio cuerpo. El lenguaje musical, la teoría y el solfeo se aprenden con el movimiento del cuerpo “La música tiene que aprenderse escuchando e interpretando, yo escucho, luego yo canto, yo hago y me muevo con el ritmo. Finalmente leo el ritmo porque ya lo he vivido” afirma el profesor Cernik.
Aunque siempre es mejor aprender de niño, igual que sucede con los idiomas cuanto más joven es el estudiante más flexible y más rápido aprende, nunca está de más estudiar, saber música y conocer el arte y el ambiente, artístico por este motivo la Escuela de Música de Sitges “Jaques-Dalcroze” espera ampliar en breve sus clases a jóvenes y adultos.
