On Top of the World by Year 5 and & Music
Year 5 and 6 have been singing beautifully in music. They have been practicing “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons for the past few weeks and here is the result of all their hard work. Well done year 5 and 6, watch out for their future success!
Tin Whistle in Year 7 Music
Year 7 are enjoying playing their Irish Tin Whistles in music class. They have been working very hard to perfect their skills and can already play many different melodies. Their music can be heard throughout the school as they simply can´t put the instruments down!!
Year 9 Romeo & Juliet Composition
Year 9 were busy composing and performing music to dramatic scenes from Romeo and Juliet. They had to choose a scene from the play, identify which type of music would be most suitable e.g. Sad, happy or with lots of tension, and then compose and perform a short piece of music to accompany the scene. Here Lorenzo, Alonzo, Angel and Kevin are deep in concentration while performing their composition.
Music Workshop for Parents and Babies
We have exciting music workshops next week for parents and their babies. These are being run by our music school which organised after school from 4.30-6.30pm and offers a range of music tuition and movement classes for the community. Information can be seen below or contact the school reception. All welcome.
Year 4 Music workshop
Year 4 had a fun day today during their music workshop. They took part in movement with music activities, demonstrating both dramatic and rhythmic skills! Fantastic!

Se inaugura en Escaan una nueva escuela de música
El próximo miércoles 10 de octubre a las 17:00 en la Sala de Actos del ESCAAN School se presentará la nueva Escuela de Música “Jaques-Dalcroze” de Sitges, dirigida por Pablo Cernik, pianista y acreditado profesor del método “Rítmica -Dalcroze”.
La “Rítmica Dalcroze” es una metodología que nació hace más de un siglo y aún sigue siendo innovadora en el campo de la educación musical. Su creador, el compositor suizo Émile Jaques-Dalcroze, propuso un aprendizaje de la música
El director de la nueva escuela, Pablo Cernik, lleva más de ocho años dedicado a la enseñanza de la música, estudió piano y “Rítmica Dalcroze” en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Buenos Aires y posteriormente se perfeccionó en el Instituto Dalcroze de Ginebra. El profesor Cernik reside en Sitges desde hace tres años y colabora de forma habitual con diferentes escuelas de Barcelona además de formar a profesores en su carrera de educadores musicales en el Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco “Musikene” en San Sebastián.
La nueva escuela estará ubicada en las instalaciones del ESCAAN en Vallpineda. La práctica y el estudio del lenguaje musical, necesarios para poder tocar un instrumento, se realizan en las clases grupales de rítmica y de coro. En cambio las clases de instrumento son individualizadas o en parejas.
Una de las ventajas del método “Dalcroze” es que se observa una rápida evolución de los niños, aprenden música de forma más profunda, porque la han experimentado y vivido con su propio cuerpo. El lenguaje musical, la teoría y el solfeo se aprenden con el movimiento del cuerpo “La música tiene que aprenderse escuchando e interpretando, yo escucho, luego yo canto, yo hago y me muevo con el ritmo. Finalmente leo el ritmo porque ya lo he vivido” afirma el profesor Cernik.
Aunque siempre es mejor aprender de niño, igual que sucede con los idiomas cuanto más joven es el estudiante más flexible y más rápido aprende, nunca está de más estudiar, saber música y conocer el arte y el ambiente, artístico por este motivo la Escuela de Música de Sitges “Jaques-Dalcroze” espera ampliar en breve sus clases a jóvenes y adultos.

We are Beautiful!
This week we are working hard to prepare for the Summer concert as well as doing our final exams, so as you can imagine, we have a lot of stuff to do! However, amongst all the stress and pressure we need to remember to relax and have fun. Summer is approaching and as the school year comes to an end, we look back at our long journey together and remember the good things and the things we have worked to improve. One of our focus points has been trying to get everyone to get along together. Children need to understand that everyone is different and that’s what makes life so special, it’s what makes getting to know people so much more fun. We need to accept everyone as they are, which also means accepting ourselves in the process. The following video reminds us of exactly this, we are all beautiful in our own way, no matter what anyone says. So here is our very own Bea Kohner, performing the popular Christina Aguilera song for the Philippine community. Thanks for sharing this wonderful performance with us!

In ECU1 we have been having fun with our new dressing up corner!! In Creative Development we all dressed up and then had a dance to our favourite songs! It was great fun!!
